Hunger Games: Does society make the person?

I'm sticking with this question because the rest where about love, murder and one was "Is oppression really that bad?" Of coarse it is! Did you read the damn book?
/rant
Anyways, is a person who they are because they where born like that or did the society they live in make them the person they are today? I say Society does in fact, change, if not make the person. If Katness had lived in a fore charitable society she would have never become an archer, or the protective person she was in the book. Peeta Wanted to show them that they didn't own him. That he was his own person but was he really?

Sneetches

The Sneeches is about a bunch of bird like humanoids who have and upper class and lower class based on whether or not they have a star on their stomachs. Or you know, racism. Then a business man comes and confuses them with star on star off machines so no one knows who is who. So everyone gets along after that, even the sneeches with stars on their buttocks. So it's an allegory for racism and what have you. And a man who pulls a Tom Sawyer on the racist feather brains.

Big theme

**Spoiler alert**

I think there are two rather large themes to this story.
1) What would you do for love? The main character pretty much goes back in time to WWII for a girl... and his personal safety, but the girl was a big part of it.
2) Would it really be that great to live forever? Would being a 12 year old for a 100+ years really be that great?

The Rime of the Ancient Marier

The Rime of the Ancient Marier
The poem displays some if the I's of the romanticism things we took notes on. it tends to ignore logic and just has a lot of feeling. Angels possessing dead bodies is not the most realistic thing I've read. It has some idealism snuck in there at the end. The over all theme is one about feeling guilt and paying for crimes. From shooting a bird to causing everyone of the ship to die of thirst. Kinda has the same theme as Hercules 12 labors. Where he kills him family hand has to pay, or work off his crimes.

So this weekend I wanted to try and finish the book. But I tried to set down and read the book on two occasions. I fell asleep both times. Don't get me wrong interesting things do happen in the book, but there his so much time between these interesting things that is just the hobbits stopping for meals and sleep, you just want to have a snack and go to bed to! Anyways. On with the summery.

The hobbits get to Frodo's new house and take a bath, because he has three baths in this new house. Then they eat mushrooms. The next morning then head into the woods that are alive. They after a while they start riding by  a willow tree and they feel sleepy. They start to fall asleep and the tree tries to drown Frodo but Sam pulls him out. Then they find Merry and Pippin trapped by the roots. They try to set the set the tree on fire but that only angers it. Then a Fellow named Tom comes along and saves them by talking to the Tree. Later you find out he is old like beginning of time old. My hunch is he's a Nymph. So the hobbits go and listen to his stories and stay at his house until the rain stops.

When the hobbits wake up the elves are gone. The band of hobbit decide that it would be saver to travel off the road, although slower. So they take along time traveling though the woods, see a black rider or two. After a while the make it out of the woods and find themselves on Farmer Maggots property. (What an unfortunate name) Mr.Maggot lets the hounds loose and they stop just short of attacking the Hobbits. Pipin and Maggot talk, they have dinner, and Mr Maggot Tells them about a black rider that had stopped by Looking for Frodo. Then they all load into a cart and finally get to Frodo's house crossing a river. With a black rider close behind.
Spooky.

So Frodo and his pals have just been walking on the long and winding road. For quite a while randomly making poetry and singing songs. Having a good 'ol time. Then Sam hears hoof steps, they get paranoid like hobbits do apparently and hide on the side of the road. A "Black rider" Comes into site and sniffs around for Frodo. Frodo wants to put the ring on but doesn't then the "Black rider" Leaves. Pipin and Sam come out they talk about this strangeness then go on there way. Later another one shows up and the hobbits hide again. It sees (or smells) Frodo and goes all spider crawling on the ground towards him. Then they hear elves singing and the creepy spider in black runs away. They meet up with the elves and travel with them. Frodo shows off by speaking in high elf. He asks about the black riders and Bilbo but the elves are very mysterious about it.
Of coarse.

LOTR

The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring
So, I started to read Lord of the Rings. I figured it was past time. So far I am really enjoying it I am 74 pages in. Like always there are a lot of things in the book that they do not mention in the movie. But that is pretty standard for all books. So far things that have happened. Frodo moves in with Bilbo, Bilbo throws a party then disappears. Frodo has "The Ring" Gandalf disappears for a while. When he comes back nine years later He tells Frodo about the rings origin, with smeagol and whatnot. And now Frodo is getting ready to leave. That is as far as I've gotten.
